UK Vehicle Charging: Vauxhall Links With JustPark

An alliance between Vauxhall and JustPark could held ease the charging burden that most fear when it comes to owning an electric vehicle.

Vauxhall, an automaker who has already taken the electric pledge, like many of its fellow ICE brands, is amping up its adoption efforts, this time through an exclusive partnership with JustPark.

The partnership is there to help more people in Britain make the electric jump by helping them find convenient charging locations close to them and their home.

Those that join the JustCharge network, and have access to a charger on their own drive or property, can actually rent out their units to other EV owners through an optimised app.

Vauxhall will encourage its electric drivers to join this growing community, to help the drivers who are in need of charging, and owners who want to add to their EVs low running costs.

Around 40% of UK households do not have access to off-street parking, this makes it rather difficult to charge vehicles from home.

If just five per cent of those with a home charger joined the JustCharge network, it would double the number of public charging locations currently available in the UK.

“Having lived with an electric vehicle without a home charging point, I know first-hand the challenges that solely relying on public chargers can bring. We are delighted to be working with Vauxhall to help enable many thousands more drivers to make the switch to an electric vehicle.”
— Matt Shirley, Head of EV Networks, JustPark

Through the app, drivers in need of some electric juice need only select a specific time slot and then drive to the location nearest. Users can also leave reviews for each charger, making it quite simple to know the good spots from the bad ones.

Owners have the ability to set their own prices and availability times, in case you were wondering.

What’s more, fleet operators can sign up to JustPark’s FleetCharge, where JustPark sources and installs a charging device at the company driver’s property, and supplies the electricity for it. The fees for that would be combined into a single monthly payment.

Do you have an EV charger installed at home and live in the UK? If so, tell us how interested you’d be in renting out your unit to fellow drivers.
