The Cadillac Lyriq ‘Debut Edition’ Sold Out In Just Over 10 Minutes

Cadillac’s upcoming ‘Debut Edition’ EV has surpassed expectations on the reservations front. According to the automaker, around 200,000 people have “expressed interest in learning more about the vehicle” since appearing on the scene.

The Cadillac Lyriq has been at the top of many wish lists for a while now, and it shows, given reservations for the luxury EV sold out in just over 10 minutes.

Reservations themselves consisted of a refundable fee of only $100. We imagine quite a few buyers would instead take the money back than pay around $60,000 (the base price of the EV).

Still, it’s an impressive feat, one that’s definitely up there with initial reservations for electric vehicles like Tesla’s Cybertruck and the Volkswagen ID.4.

It is unknown how many models were included in this opening batch. Although, one dealer stated the following information on site: “To reserve one of the first 1,500 vehicles built, submit your…”

The Lyriq is shaping up to be quite the head-turner in the luxury segment. It runs with a 100 kWh battery, capable of producing 340 horsepower. Range-wise, expect to get around 300 miles out of each charge before needing a top-up.

“The opening of reservations for the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debut Edition represents just the beginning of Cadillac’s journey to become an industry-leading, all-electric luxury brand. While 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debut Edition reservations are full, more vehicles will be available to order through the Cadillac dealer network starting summer 2022. I can’t wait to share even more about our future EV lineup next year.”
– Rory Harvey, Vice President, Global Cadillac

It’s an EV with a lot of promise and is receiving a pretty big push from Cadillac (with good reason).

In fact, GM plans to sell more of this Debut Edition Lyriq through its dealer network. Meaning you’ll get another chance to get your hands on one if you missed out this time around.

Deliveries of the Lyriq will roll out in Q2 of 2022. Not that long to wait when you think about it.
