‘Prologue’ Is The Name Of Honda’s First Electric SUV

We knew Honda was heading in a greener direction, but we weren’t expecting more details to follow so soon.

  • Honda has named the first of two electric SUVs in the Honda Prologue.
  • The Prologue will go on sale in the US/Canada in 2024.
  • Honda hopes to electrify its entire lineup by 2040.

Popular Japanese automaker, Honda, made headlines last week, announcing to the world, plans to fully electrify its entire lineup by 2040.

And now we have details on the first electric SUV — the first of two — due to go on sale in the US and Canada in 2024.

By details, we mean a name and a few other tidbits, as Honda is keeping the details quite close to the chest on this one.

We know that the first electric SUV will be called the Honda Prologue. The name doubles up as homage to a certain sports coupe from the 80s and as a statement of intent.

Do you get the reference?

“With the Prologue, our goal is to provide a highly competitive product with the functionality to meet the diverse needs of our customers,” says Honda of America sales chief David Gardner.

Honda is working alongside General Motors to bring the Prologue to life via the US automakers Ultium batteries.

What about the other SUV?

All we know is this vehicle will sport the Acura name and is another joint venture with GM. Aside from that, the details are scarce.

Rumours of the Prologue name have spiralled since April after Car Buzz reported on a filed trademark.

As we covered last week, Honda’s EV plans will extend to motorbikes alongside vehicles on four wheels.

Needless to say, but the future of Honda is looking bright.

What do you think of Prologue as a name? We think it’s fitting, but what do you think? Give us your thoughts on social media.
